Bauxite

What the meaning of Bauxite ?

Bauxite is the most important aluminum ore.

This type of rock consists mainly of the minerals gypsite Al(OH)3, bohemite γ-AlO(OH), and
diaspore α-AlO(OH) in a mixture that usually includes

iron oxide goethite,hematite,
the clay mineral kaolin, and small amounts of titanium minerals such as anatite, TiO2,ilmenite, and FeTiO3. , and FeOTiO2.

Bauxite was named after the village of Les Lobos, located in southern France, where it was first discovered.

This name was given to it by the French geologist Pierre Berthier in 1821.

The most common metal on Earth is aluminium, but it is costly, mainly because of the amount of energy required in the production process. Bauxite (Al2O3) is called aluminium ore.

The bauxite is purified to yield a white powder from which aluminium can be extracted-aluminium oxide (also known as alumina).

By the Bayer Process, the bauxite is purified. The ore is first combined with a hot, condensed sodium hydroxide solution.
Aluminium and silicon oxides, but not other impurities such as iron oxides, can be dissolved by NaOH, which remains insoluble.

By filtration, the insoluble materials are removed.

  4. The factory contains 252 production cells in the factory, divided into 12 rooms within 6 production lines. One line contains 92 cells with a total total capacity of 320 thousand tons of aluminum annually.
  5. There is an electricity conversion station next to the factory to provide it with the necessary energy.
